<p>Four months ago, the LH4 from Lightning Hybrids was nothing but <a href="http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/03/lightning-hybri/">a mound of clay</a>, but now the Colorado company has a running prototype and some video of it on the road. It’s brief, but you can tell from the video the Corvette-inspired, hydraulic hybrid is not your typical hybrid. It sounds like a British sports car with a bad muffler, but it doesn’t look too shabby.</p>

This is the unit of GM responsible for bringing us every SS model ever built, from the <a href="http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Overview-c10106-1963-Nova.html">’63 Nova SS</a> to the upcoming <a href="http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Overview-c21366-2010-Camaro.html">’10 Camaro SS</a> (not to mention the crazy fast <a href="http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Overview-c21316-2009-CTS-V.html">Cadillac CTS-V</a> and insanely good<a href="http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Overview-t32832-2009-Corvette-ZR1.html">Corvette ZR1</a>).</p>

<p>The low slung silver Corvette brought to the event by Art and Craig Morrison is simply stunning to look at. In fact, it was so nice we were actually surprised that the Morrisons didn&#8217;t flinch at accepting the invitation to let us beat the tires off of it. While the car had been done for nearly a year, it hadn&#8217;t gotten out on the track much at all, but that was about to change. The foundation of AME&#8217;s Vette is the company&#8217;s GT Sport Chassis. Originally introduced for the Tri-Five Chevys, this full frame was computer designed for the first-generation Corvette. This is a godsend to early Vette owners since the ride quality and handling capabilities of Chevrolet&#8217;s first sports cars are notoriously poor.</p>
