Meet “The Seven Year Itch”. This 1967 Chevrolet “Hot Wheels” style is a completely frame off restored truck and has so many tasteful and custom attributes it hurts just thinking about them. Seven Year Itch = a seven year project. It would take a complete evening to simply take all of this truck in and then the rest of the month to truly understand it’s beauty and craftsmanship. This truck was a seven year project that a high end automobile collector invested to make it where it is today. How many times have you heard – “Over $100,000 invested in this collector car” knowing that it was half that amount? This is not the case here.

This truck was built mostly for show knowing it would take the odd occasional drive. This truck can be described as a trailer queen. It was built to be perfect in appearance and to be trailered to shows – not driven to them. The most expensive part of this truck is everything. Everything is as nice as the rest. The truck was completed about 2 years ago and every single show it entered, it took all of the trophies in its class, including but not limited to “PEOPLE’S CHOICE” and “BEST PAINT AND BODY” at the famous Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show. I was at this show and it was the talk of the show. I believe it won around 6 awards at one show in its debut. This is a car show that sees $500,000 Roadsters. In its first showing, this truck was invited to be the spotlight in the Hot Rods & Classics Magazine.

Body Mods and Features

- Top chopped 4”
- Rolled Drip Rails
- Smoothed Door Handles & Tailgate
- Frenched Antenna & Stake Pocket
- Smooth Firewall
- Flush Front and Rear Glass
- One Piece Side Glass
- Hidden Fuel Filler (Behind Back-up Light)
- Custom Side Exhaust exits – electric module turns exhaust to straight header or to exit in front of the rear tires at the flick of a switch
- Full air ride technologies with controls on Key FOB as well as inside truck

The Bugatti Renaissance design project is designer John Mark Vicente’s vision for the supercar that will replace the (al)mighty Bugatti Veyron. Since the concept has really large shoes to fill, it works hard to carry the virtues of the Veyron along. There isn’t a radical change in the looks department, and we think there won’t be one in the performance either, what it does appear to change is by way of a few cosmetic changes, and perhaps a bit of green-ness. An interesting design exercise, but I wonder if Bugatti would consider a direct successor to the Veyron. More images after the jump.

This was not, however, the RPU’s first trip to the GNRS. The car was there the year before in unfinished bare metal, and the year before that as a finished frame-both times in the display booth for the Jalopy Shoppe.

Sure, you’ll see quite a few nicely-restored examples and a plethora of drag cars, but nothing that will compare to George Paul’s award-winning ’80 Z28. And it’s not as if these cars aren’t plentiful and still affordable-they are. They make great projects, it just seems like owners of these particular rides have yet to be provoked with the appropriate template on provisions to give these cars proper street cred … until now, that is.

Another shocker is that this project went from a bunch of steel and a rusted shell to a running rod in just three and a half months, although Steve estimates a good 1,000 hours of labor were put in during that time.In addition to the diesel, Steve’s rod also dares to be different with an agricultural theme. The front axle was lifted from a coal mine truck, and John Deere green is seen throughout the vehicle. What’s more, Steve drives the thing everywhere-in fact, the six-cylinder diesel has been a great asset in fuel mileage, as the Dodge has achieved an incredible 25 mpg on freeway jaunts. What’s next? Well, the ‘cage is SCTA-legal for Bonneville. As soon as Steve finds another gear, and with the addition of a transbrake and some taller slicks, 10-second passes should be no problem. Oh, and that’s without the extra 300 to 500 hp available from the progressive NX nitrous system. Whether it’s at his home track in Billings, Montana, or cruising the Strip in Las Vegas, this one-of-a-kind rod always draws a crowd.

In the Pantheon of American Muscle Cars, the Chevelle has staked a rock-solid position. When it first rolled off the production lines in 1964 you get it with 120hp V6 or, either a 283- or 327- V8, that with the SS set-up would produce 300 bhp. Chevrolet would continue to produce the Chevelle until 1977, during which time it would get ever-increasing boosts of horsepower during the muscle-car salad days of the late sixties, and reach the zenith of it’s performance in 1970 when it rolled off the line with 454 cubic-inches capable of turning out 450 horsepower. As with all muscle cars, the early ’70′s saw a continued roll-back on power thanks to higher fuel and insurance prices, as well as the introduction of smog equipment. When the Chevelle badge was retired in 1977 the basic chassis/body style carried on under the Malibu name–de-tuned and de-fanged.

But while the engine choice is really cool, don’t be fooled; this ’69 Camaro is about way more than just an engine. It came together under the guidance of well-known Pro Touring car builder Mark Stielow. Unlike the other 35 or so cars Mark has built, this one started in the mind of his friend Charley Lillard. As a direct descendent of the killer ’69 Camaro that Mark unveiled back in 2003, which was called the Mule, Charley decided to simply call this ride Jackass.

The name is somewhat misleading. The Mule represented a huge step forward in the build and performance of a Pro Touring-style muscle car. It featured massive rubber, production-looking mini-tubbed rear wheelwells over a streetable four-link rear suspension, a 1,000hp twin turbo V-8, a late-model front suspension, 275/35R18 front tires, 335/30R18 rear tires, and was detailed in 22 consecutive months of magazine buildup stories. The Mule was chassis-dyno-tested in 0-to-200-mph runs, run in track events at facilities such as Laguna Seca, and driven cross-country on four HOT ROD Power Tours(r).

In 1956, Werner Pauli was 24 years old, home from Korea (where he flew B-26s), and owned this custom Mercury.

This story comes from his son Dave. “Dad bought the ’51 off the lot in Arlington Heights, Illinois, while visiting home and drove it to Langley AFB in Virginia, where he was stationed. He and some friends had a garage off base and made all the standard leadsled mods: nosed, decked, shaved, and lowered (with 4-inch blocks in the rear), frenched headlights, and ’54 Packard Clipper taillights. The center ’56 Chrysler grille bar pivoted when pushed to open the driver’s door using a ’51 Buick starter solenoid. Switches on the driver’s seat operated everything, including the passenger door.
