Sponsored Post: Fraudulent Car Insurance Claims

1

Recent research that has been taken out by Moneysupermarket.com, the UK’s number one price comparison site, shows that over one million drivers in the UK has considered deliberately crashing their car to make a fraudulent insurance claim.

Out of the one million drivers, around 350,000 have managed to successfully stage an accident. The results from the research shows that it was most likely male drivers and people living in London that would consider crashing their car for cash.

Car Insurance experts at Moneysupermarket.com recently slammed drivers who crash their cars deliberately for being a danger to themselves and other road users.

Steve Sweeny, the head of motor insurance at Moneysupermarket.com said “Desperate times do often call for desperate measures, but surely this is a step too far for British motorists,”

“We have all been affected by the recession in one way or another, but crashing for cash is not only illegal but wilfully endangers the lives of others.

“Organised motor fraud not only costs the insurance industry millions, but risks the safety of innocent drivers, passengers and pedestrians.”

According to data from the Association of British Insurers, fraudulent claims cost the insurance industry around £1.6 billion each year and can add nearly £40 to the average annual car insurance premium.

Moneysupermarket warns road users that any driver who is caught trying to make a fraudulent claim will find it extremely hard and struggle to find themselves insurance cover in the future.

“Regardless of how tempting it may seem to get your hands on some extra cash, carrying out organised motor fraud really isn’t worth the risk,” Sweeney said.

If you want to save some cash with your car insurance, the best thing to do is compare car insurance premiums from many providers. Comparing insurance from as little as 5 providers can see a saving of up to 30%.
